THE Philippine State College of Aeronautics (Philsca) once again launched its “Community Extension Services and Skills Training Program” for the out-of-school youth for the sixth time in Cebu.
The launching was held inside the Philsca campus at the Mactan Air Base last Sunday morning which was presided by Philsca president Dr. Bernard Ramirez and assisted by campus director Dr. Nonadele Soriano and campus supervisor Fedilina Baluyot.
The program started in barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City in 2010 and later on extended to other barangays, such as Punta Engaño, and Day-as in Cordova.
Ramirez said the program is a great opportunity for the out-of-school-youth to obtain skills that are in demand in the airline industry. “Most of our graduates were absorbed in the airline industries after their on-the-job training,” Ramirez said.
The lectures will be brought to Philsca’s beneficiary communities, while the hands on training will be conducted in the college’s laboratory, where the equipment is located.
“Philsca is doing this, as part of their social responsibility, to give the less-fortunate individuals opportunity to land a good job,” Ramirez said.
Dr. Soriano said the program covers 10 days of lecture and hands-on training. The participants will be issued a certificate. /Correspondent Norman Mendoza
