MANILA, Philippines — Amid the exodus of people from Metro Manila to the provinces for the long Holy Week break, 14 flights at Ninoy Aquino International Airport were cancelled on Wednesday due to technical problems and aircraft problems, authorities said.
At Terminal 4, two Zest Air flights to Busuanga, Palawan, together with their returns trips, were cancelled due to aircraft problems, the Manila International Airport Authority, state operator of NAIA, said.
At Terminal 3, four Cebu Pacific flights to Caticlan, Aklan, together with their return trips were also cancelled.
Caticlan is the gateway to the world-famous island resort of Boracay while Busuanga is the gateway to Coron Island and other popular destinations in northern Palawan.
Technical problems were also the cause of the cancellation of a Cebu Pacific flight to Hong Kong at Terminal 3, and a Philippine Airlines flight to Honolulu, Hawaii, at Terminal 2. The return trips were also canceled.
Public advisories sent by Cebu Pacific and PAL said the affected passengers have been rebooked in the next available flights with the same airline or with another carrier.
