The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) plans to build a business hotel, which is also a one-stop shop for tourists and travelers.
CCCI president Samuel Chioson said he met with Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia for an initial discussion about the plan.
The chamber is also looking into possible investors for the planned hotel.
“We will look into our partners, sa mga members namo who can participate sa putting up the hotel. Hotel is a combination of one stop shop sa ubos and business hotel sa taas,” he said.
Chioson said the idea came up after the CCCI was chosen to host the Confederation of Asia- Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) Convention in March 2013.
The one-stop shop will enable the province to promote its products at the hotel.
However, for the CACCI event, Chioson said if the business hotel plan wouldn’t yet be realized, then they would consider the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) as the venue to hold the one-stop shop because of the center’s accessibility.
“We wanted as soon as possible because 2013 we will have the CACCI convention and that will be on March. So we are hoping before March the building will be finished,” Chioson said.
He said the province offered to provide the lot while the CCCI would put up the building.
Chioson said that early next year, CACCI’s Secretary General would visit Cebu to inspect hotels for the event.
CACCI is a regional grouping of apex national chambers of commerce and industry, business associations and business enterprises in Asia and the Western Pacific.
Meanwhile, the Cebu City Police Chief Melvin Ramon Buenafe gave tips for Cebuanos on handling foreigners..
“My advice to Cebuanos is to continue being hospitable and helpful to visitors. Educate them and share your experience as local citizen. Tell them where to go or not to go and the things that should be avoided when touring,” said Buenafe during a briefing on security in Cebu to Japanese nationals living here.
