MANILA, Philippines—Two men who were killed with gun shots to the head were dumped in a street in Mandaluyong City on Tuesday.
Senior Supt. Florendo Quibuyen, chief of police, said that as of Tuesday afternoon, no one has come out to identify the bodies, which were found by a tricycle driver, Ferdinand Esclamado, on Union St. in Barangay Ilaya around 4 a.m.
Police said the hands of the two victims were cuffed behind their backs, and there was packaging tape wrapped around their faces.
A strip of wire had been wrapped around the necks of the victims, who were aged 30-35, they said.
While the lack of outside help made it difficult for them to identify the victims, police said they were looking at the possibility that one of them was affiliated with the Sige Sige Sputnik group, a prison gang. This was because a tattoo suggesting the same had been found on one of the victim’s back and left knee.
No such tattoo was found on the second victim, though, according to the police.
Aside from the single bullet wounds in each of their heads, Quibuyen said the victims had sustained gunshot wounds in the shoulders.
These were inconsistent with the single spent shell reportedly from a .45-caliber pistol found in the scene, Quibuyen said.
As such, he said it was “most likely” the victims had been killed somewhere else, and their bodies dumped in the area.
He added the closed-circuit television camera in the area was not able to capture what happened.
