The Philippine Social Science Council (PSSC), in cooperation with the Association of Asian Social Science Research Councils (AASSREC), will host the 20th AASSREC biennial general conference on April 4 and 5 at the Cebu Parklane Hotel.
PSSC last hosted the AASSREC conference in 1991.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Ageing in Asia-Pacific: Balancing the State and the Family.”
Scholars from the 16 countries comprising the AASSREC will examine the role, responsibilities and contributions of the state and the family in providing a supportive environment for and increasing the usefulness and participation of ageing citizens.
The conference will be participated in by paper-writers and official representatives of the member-organizations of AASSREC from 16 countries in the Asia-Pacific. Sen. Edgardo Angara and Yasuhiko Saito of Nihon University, Japan will keynote the conference.
There is a special registration fee of P3,000 per person for the designated representatives of PSSC member-organizations.
The registration fee will cover the meals, conference kit and access to papers to be presented in the two-day conference.
The conference will likewise be open to non-AASSREC scholars, program implementors, service providers, policymakers and other professionals who are interested in the topic of ageing and the elderly. Conference details may also be viewed at https://aassrec20th.wordpress.com.
