Int’l confab to tackle ageing
The Philippine Social Science Council (PSSC), in cooperation with the Association of Asian Social Science Research Councils (AASSREC), will host the 20th AASSREC biennial general conference on April 4 and 5 at the Cebu Parklane Hotel.
PSSC last hosted the AASSREC conference in 1991.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Ageing in Asia-Pacific: Balancing the State and the Family.”
Scholars from the 16 countries comprising the AASSREC will examine the role, responsibilities and contributions of the state and the family in providing a supportive environment for and increasing the usefulness and participation of ageing citizens.
The conference will be participated in by paper-writers and official representatives of the member-organizations of AASSREC from 16 countries in the Asia-Pacific. Sen. Edgardo Angara and Yasuhiko Saito of Nihon University, Japan will keynote the conference.
There is a special registration fee of P3,000 per person for the designated representatives of PSSC member-organizations.

The conference will likewise be open to non-AASSREC scholars, program implementors, service providers, policymakers and other professionals who are interested in the topic of ageing and the elderly. Conference details may also be viewed at https://aassrec20th.wordpress.com.
