MS Motosuit Awards Night slated today at Waterfront

Last year’s top performing motocross riders take centerstage tonight as the MS Motosuit Motocross Series holds its Annual Awards Night at PAGCOR’S Teatro Casino at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

Hostilities start at 7 p.m.

In a gathering of elite race track daredevils, the event will be a momentous one as MS Motosuit top honcho Lou Ornopia officially bids farewell to the sport that blossomed under his watch.

Ornopia helped the once dying sport resurrect by staging several races in various places in the Visayas and Mindanao for almost 20 years.

“This is a chance for me to formally announce that I will no longer be organizing a motocross series. It doesn’t mean though that I am leaving the sport for good. My support to motocross will always be there, although in another capacity this time,” said Ornopia, a former Sportsman of the Year awardee by the Sportswriters Association  of Cebu (SAC).

Tonight’s affair will be graced by Cebuano congressmen Benhur Salimbangon (4th District) and Pablo John Garcia (3rd District).

Headlining the awardees is veteran rider Pepo Rubi , who will be feted for bagging the championship crowns in the expert and pro open divisions. The other category champions include Donkey Sanchez (open enduro), BJ Pepito (mini 65 and 85cc), Nanding Pepito (executive C), Martin Nunez (intermediate and novice open production), JC Obligado (local enduro), Denmark Supatan (beginners production), Jun Enriquez (executive B), Kent Limpag  (underbone), and Roscel Gunbob (executive A)./EDITORIAL ASSISTANT CALVIN D.
