The University of the Visayas (UV) and the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles forged another chapter in their storied rivalry after they secured tickets to the finals following their semifinal wins over their respective opponents in the under-19 division of the 2013 ThreeSixty Pharmacy Cup last Sunday at the SHS-AdC basketball courts along Mango Avenue.
UV defeated the Athletes for Christ in Excellent Service (ACES), 71-62, while the SHS-AdC-manned CVIRAA squad, downed the UV-under-16 team, 65-59.
This championship match marks the fifth time that these two teams have locked horns dating back to their finals showdowns in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi), the CVIRAA, the Cebu Elite Basketball League and the Cebu leg of the National Basketball Training Center (NBTC).
UV was led by Ralph Dinolan’s 19 points while Jerome Napao added 12. Rendell Senining led SHS-AdC with 16 points while Criss Galvez chipped in 12.
The ThreeSixty Pharmacy Cup 2013 is the flagship tournament of Season 6 of the Cebu Youth Basketball League (CYBL). The tournament is composed of 50 teams spread over four age groups./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
