Alaska Aces head coach Luigi Trillo was slapped with a P40,000 fine following his furious diatribe directed at officials after their narrow 83-84 loss to San Mig Coffee last Friday night in the ongoing PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Trillo was summoned by PBA commissioner Chito Salud to his office yesterday morning for a meeting after the former’s statements, which came after their controversial loss to the Mixers in a game that was decided at the end by a double-lane violation.

The said call nullified the game-tying freethrow of Alaska’s Calvin Abueva, which led to the team’s third loss in 10 outings.

“For repeatedly issuing statements to the press that tend to undermine public confidence in the game’s outcome in general, and mislead and confuse the public as to the correctness of the call made by the game officials with respect to the freethrow violation in the game between the Alaska Aces and the San Mig Coffee Mixers in particular, statements that are deemed by this Office to be detrimental to the best interests of the league, coach Luigi Trillo is hereby fined the amount of P20,000,” said the commissioner’s statement.

Furthermore, Trillo was fined another P20,000 for violating the rule that prohibits any member of a team from approaching or confronting the game officials before, during or after a game.
