THE SAN SEBASTIAN Lady Stags bounced back into contention in the Shakeys V-League Open Conference as they manhandled Perpetual Help, 25-18, 25-17, 25-13 romp while Air Force proved its worth by upending Ateneo, 25-21, 26-24, 20-25, 31-29, before a big Sunday crowd at The Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Stags hardly showed the effects of their three-set defeat to the Navy spikers last Thursday, overwhelming the Altas from the start with their power game anchored on superb reception en route to the 58-minute victory, their second in three games.
Air Force finally came out of the rut, snatching a pulsating four-setter over erstwhile unbeaten Ateneo in a match highlighted by a see-sawing fourth set showdown.
Cherry Macatangay unloaded 22 kills and had three service points and the Air Force ladies proved steadier than the Lady Eagles in the end to carve out the hard-earned win, their first after back-to-back losses./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
