3 hurt as man goes on stabbing spree in Lapu

Three persons, including a mother and son, were wounded when their neighbor went on a stabbing spree in barangay Ibo, Lapu-Lapu City on Saturday afternoon.

Maribel Amori and Jocelyn Licmuan were both stabbed in the abdomen while Amori’s 29-year-old son Jomar was wounded in the right hand.

The victims were brought to Lapu-Lapu City Hospital for treatment.

Police are still investigating what drove Jorge Jumao-as, 38, to attack the victims.

Police said it was possible that the suspect was high on drugs since there were reports that he is a drug user.

Police said Licmuan was in her house when Jumao-as arrived and stabbed her.

The suspect then went to the house of Maribel and without a word stabbed her.

Jomar, who saw the incident, tried to grab the knife from the suspect, causing cuts in the right hand.

Jumao-as ran out of the house of the Licmuans and fled.

Responding police arrested the suspect in his house and recovered the knife used in the stabbing.

The suspect is detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office pending the filling of charges against him, said police./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
