Missous, Tabal win 21k crowns again

Kenyan Abraham Missous and local running ace Mary Joy Tabal clinched the top spots in yesterday’s 21-kilometer race of the GOOD (Goiter, Obesity, Osteoporosis and Diabetes) Run of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) Philippine Chapter that ended at the Parkmall in Mandaue City.

Missous edged ultra marathoner Noel Tillor in the 21k men’s race by clocking one hour, 12 minutes and 32 seconds.  Tabal defeated tough rival Cristy Tutor with a time of one hour, 25 minutes and 52 seconds to secure the women’s crown.

Rounding off the top three in the men’s 21k race is Kenyan James Mebel. Multi-awarded ultra runner Virginia Parajenog placed third in the 21k women’s race, clocking 1:46:42, just four minuted behind second placer Tutor.

Around 2,000 runners attended the race that started and ended at the Parkmall grounds at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.

Meanwhile, Joebert Carolino staged an upset as he defeated Kenyan Douglas Mwiti to win the 12k race with a time of 42:04.

Mwiti, a known winner in Cebu races, finished in 42:44. Enrique Manggas placed third with a time of 47:16.

Lovely Fe Andrin continued her winning form, topping the 12k female side with a time of 54:08.

Keisha Mae Delechos trailed her at second place with  time of 54:28 while Karla Cosep settled for third with a time of 56:40.

Joel Delposo and Shalimar Canales finished top spots in the 6k race.

Delposo had a time of 20:43 to take home the men’s crown while Canales clocked 36:08 to win the women’s title.

Delposo’s closest pursuer was Robert Daang, who finished with a time of 20:52. Elmer Sabio placed third with a time of 24:30.

Rosella Viquezo placed second place in the distaff side with a time of 37:10 while Mae Ann Mares finished third by finishing in 37:12.

Jam Monica Estrera placed first in the women’s 3k with a time of 15:29 whileVicente Lorenzo Cabahug topped the men’s side with a time of 11:54. All winners received cash prizes.
