From marketing products of Unilver, Timi Gomez-Aquino is now promoting the senate candidacy of her husband, Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV, to Filipino voters.
Timi, who is on leave as brand manager of the multli-national company, said her husband’s clear message of promoting jobs for the youth and entrepreneurship is the reason a newcomer like him landed in no. 12 in the recent Pulse Asia national survey and number 1 in the Cebu province survey.
“With my experience in marketing, we make sure that we are able to translate his vision, platform into words which the public will understand. Sayang kasi if the message does not get through,” she said.
Timi was in Cebu City on Friday to represent 36-year-old Bam during the graduation of the Asian College of Technology (ACT).
She said she and Bam would return to Cebu for the Holy Week and stay at a resort from Holy Thursday to Easter Sunday.
Timi said they chose to vacation here because Cebu is “extra” important to Bam. She said Bam’s popularity in Cebu is not only because of his family name (he’s a first cousin of the President) but because of his character and his campaign platform.
They got married in September 2012. Bam, whose company finances start-up ventures like the Hapinoy social enterprise, has been traveling around the country for speaking engagements.
Despite their busy schedule, Timi said Sunday is a “sacred” day for going to church together and family bonding
“We don’t spend as much time together with the campagin. But I appreciate our teamwork and the sacrifices we make during the early stage of our marriage,” Timi said. Chief of Reporters Doris C. Bongcac
