Break The Silence run set April 21 at Cebu Business Park

The Gualandi Volunteer Service Programme, Inc, a foundation that protects and campaigns for the prevention of deaf and mute sexual abuse in the country, will be holding another edition of their “Break The Silence: Stop Deaf Sexual Abuse Run” on April 21, 2013, at the Cebu Business Park.

The running event will feature 4-kilometer, 8k and 16k distances. There will also be a special category for Persons With Disabilities, which will be a 1k run. Registration is pegged at P350 inclusive of a race bib and a singlet.

Registration can be done at the RUNNR in Ayala Center Cebu or at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Gualandi Volunteer Service Programme is aiming to strengthen the fight against child sexual abuse and exploitation. The foundation continues its mission for the deaf community to live in a deaf-inclusive society. Established in 2005, the non-stock, non-profit organization has been working with volunteers in projects for and with the deaf community.

The running event will be handled by race director Joel Baring of the Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts (SAFE).

Runners who want to avail of race bibs only can pay just P150. Persons with disabilities (PWDS) and senior citizens also get a 20 percent discount. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
