COA marks P60 M projects with no PB approval

ABOUT P60 million in infrastructure projects that were implemented in the province were not ratified by the Provincial Board (PB), acting Gov. Agnes Magpale said yesterday.

Magpale said she received a report submitted by Engr. Margarito Maningo Jr., proprietor of Maningo Enterprises that built classrooms in Borbon and Sogod towns in the province’s 5th and 6th districts.

The amount also includes repairs on roads, one sports center and improvements of Larsian in Fuente Osmeña in Cebu City.

Magpale said the amount needs to be ratified by the PB as required by the Commission on Audit (COA).

Magpale said she was also surprised that some projects were completed despite receiving partial payments.

Also included for payment were restrooms and a seniors citizens building in Cebu’s north reclamation area.

Magpale said she’s only waiting for word from COA on the matter.

She said the projects were not supported by an ordinance approved by the board.

The acting gov ernor said it is also the board that determines the amount and source of funds for the projects. Correspondent Renan R. Alangilan
