Four men killed in drug raid

It was supposed to be their daughter’s graduation yesterday but Vicente Bayon Judaya and Anabelle Judaya can no longer attend her special day.
Police raided their home and three others in simultaneous raids that resulted in the deaths of Vicente and three of his companions in barangay Polpogan, Consolacion town at 5 a.m. yesterday.
“I tried to tell him to quit the drug trade but he wouldn’t listen,” a teary-eyed Anabelle told reporters.
Her husband was identified by police as a hitman and protector of Boyet Ariva, a suspected drug dealer.
Judaya and the three other men killed in the shootout were part of Ariva’s group.
Polpogan barangay Captain Roger Linaboc identified them as Ian Siacol, Rene Boy Tarriao, and Jerson Resma.
They were rushed by police to the Eversely Child Sanitarium in Jagobiao, Mandaue City where they were declared dead on arrival.
Taken from Ariva’s home were several guns, hand grenades and packs containing shabu.

Aside from Ariva and Judaya, others who were issued search warrants were Jerry Bugtai, and Elvira Manlisi, Boyet’s live-in partner.
The warrants were issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Teresita Galanida of branch 56, Mandaue City.
Ariva and Judaya’s homes were located 50 meters away from each other. Judaya’s wife and children were asleep at the time of the raid.
Senior Insp. Mark Sucalit of the Regional Intelligence Division (RID) of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) said Vicente was repacking shabu when police arrived.
An armed Vicente exited the house through the kitchen door but was spotted by police, resulting in a shootout.
Bugtai hid at his sister’s house after spotting the police but was later arrested. Ariva left through a door on the second floor of his house and escaped arrest. With Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza
