Police, coast guard prepare for Holy Week

THE Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) will set up 14 police assistance desks and deploy bomb and illegal drugs sniffing dogs starting Wednesday next week to secure the public on   Holy Week.
The help  desks will be put up in churches, seaports, and the North Bus Terminal.
A police  team of the Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT) and K9 dogs  will reinforce security.
Senior Supt. Petronelli Baldebrin, Mandaue police chief, reminded  families to  secure their houses well  before going out of town to their home provinces.
He said people should also avoid  bringing valuables   or wear expensive accessories s in order not to attract lawless elements while attending Holy Week activities.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)   Cebu  Station urged travelers to set out early for their destinations and avoid thick  crowds of  passengers expected to gather in sea terminals and  vessels  for trips to the province during the Holy Week.
The coast guard earlier set  up 13 detachments in different seaports of Cebu province.
The detachments each ave  medical team with  doctors and nurses.
