Buhay na Kasaysayan and Juan Enterprises, in cooperation with Intramuros Administration, Department of Tourism and HERO Foundation, Inc. focus on a glorious yet neglected period in Philippine history through the benefit activity fundraiser called “KALAYAAN: A Battle Reenactment of the 1945 Liberation of Manila.”
The very first of its kind to be held in Manila, “KALAYAAN” will be performed at the grounds of the Old PC Cuartel on Sta. Lucia Street in Intramuros, Manila at 4:30 p.m. on March 24.
The reenactment will feature authentic vintage military vehicles along with simulated explosions and battle scenes using pyrotechnics and a recorded narration of the events. Media men and guests who are encouraged to attend in full 1940s regalia can also view an exhibit featuring the gear used in the performance.
Proceeds from the event will all go to the HERO Foundation, Inc. (HERO), a private organization established in 1988 by former President Corazon C. Aquino together with then Armed Forces Chief of Staff Gen. Renato de Villa, to provide educational assistance to children or dependents of Filipino soldiers killed or disabled in action. HERO has helped 2,376 scholars, on top of 888 graduates, and is supporting 700 scholars today. It is led by its chair Fernando Zobel de Ayala together with several of the country’s prominent business leaders.
