MANILA, Philippines—Residents of the razed Laperal compound in Guadalupe Viejo, Makati City, were told not to go back a report on Radyo Inquirer on Wednesday said.

According to Makati Information Officer Louie Salgado, the residents, mostly informal settlers, were told not to return to Laperal compound. The homeless victims, however, asked to be relocated in San Jose del Monte in Bulacan province or in Laguna province.

The fire, which was triggered by a faulty electric rice cooker in a house at the compound, was the fifth major fire there, said fire investigators.
