RIPRAP PROBLEM
THE barangay captain of Ibabao-Estancia is calling on the Mandaue city government to investigate if the rip-rapping work by lot owners beside the Mantuyong Creek were done inside the three-meter easement of the creek.
Barangay captain Jun Del Mar said he reported the rip-rapping work to the City Engineer’s Office.
Lawyer Giovani Tianero of the City Legal Office said his office was waiting for the recommendation of the City Engineer’s Office.
Tianero said if the city engineer would find the rip-rapping work or structures encroaching on a government lot or inside the three-meter easement of the creek, then he would have the structures removed. /Correspondent Norman Mendoza
CITY ASSISTANCE
THE Mandaue City government will give financial assistance to the family of 5-year-old Kate Arianne Flores, who died a victim of child abuse allegedly at the hands of her stepmother.
Mandaue City administrator James Abadia said the assistance would be separate from that given by the City Social Welfare Services (CSWS).
The CSWS gave rice and canned goods to the family since the father, who works as a long-haul driver, skipped work lately.
The city government also helped the family acquire the coffin and filing the case against the stepmother, Abigael Catindijan, whose whereabouts are still unknown.
Police gathered affidavits of witnesses and will be filing a case against Catindijan on Monday.
Kate will be buried on Tuesday at the Mandaue City Public cemetery./Correspondent Norman Mendoza
