Camotes dads vow ‘solid’ support for Davide

San Francisco Mayor Aly Arquillano said mayors of Camotes Islands’ four towns are solidly behind the candidacy of Liberal Party (LP) gubernatorial candidate Junjun Davide III.

Aside from the mayors, barangay captains have also declared their support to Davide, Arquillano added.

The four towns in Camotes Islands are Poro, Tudela, Pilar and San Francisco.

Arquillano attributed this show of solid support to their leader in the Barug Alang sa Kauswagan ug Demokrasya (Bakud) Party in the 5th district. Bakud forged an alliance with the administration LP.

“Layo pa ang election, makig-meeting gyud na siya namo… Nakahibaw sab mi asa mi padulong,” he said.

Davide, in a separate interview, said he is banking on the support of the 5th district to deliver his win in the 2013 elections.

“The chairman emeritus of Bakud, Danao City Vice Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano, assured me of his support,” he told reporters.

Davide’s vice gubernatorial candidate, Acting Gov. Agnes Magpale is one of the leaders of Bakud and a member of the Durano clan.

The 5th district is composed of 10 towns and a city.

Aside from this district, Davide said he is also banking on the 1st and 6th district where he last won in the May 2010 elections.

However, he is working hard by going from town to town on a full schedule every week for the other districts where he lost in the 2010 elections.

Davide said he visited the 4th district last week where he was warmly welcomed in Bogo City by Mayor Junie Martinez.

Davide was in San Francisco in Camotes Island to attend the 12th Soli-soli Festival.

Mayor Arquillano showed Davide the proposed site for the San Francisco Market Mall which is situated near its bay walk.

Davide, wearing his yellow polo shirt with the LP logo print, shook hands with spectators in the festival. Meanwhile, Davide reiterated that President Noynoy Aquino III will be here to campaign for the local LP candidates.

Davide said they were advised that the President dedicated a few weeks of April to campaign for the LP’s candidates in the province. /Carmel Loise Matus, Correspondent
