/ 06:28 AM March 18, 2013

The Fruitas Shakers and the Cebuana Lhuillier Gems aim for the early lead in the standings today when they meet in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Arena in San Juan City.

Fruitas, armed with a new supporting cast composed of holdovers from the Far Eastern University, will try to build on its 81-56 win over the Jumbo Plastic Giants last Tuesday. In that game, Anjo Caram led the way with 18 points.

Cebuana was also impressive in its debut Tuesday, coming away with 68-66 decision against Boracay Rum.

Big Chill and Blackwater Sports also aim for a second straight win against separate opponents. The Superchargers battle newcomder Hogs Breath at 2 p.m. while the Elite takes on Cagayan Valley at 4 p.m. in a rematch of last conference’s semifinal.

The Shakers are still working on their chemistry with all but five of their players new to coach Nash Racela’s system.  /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
