Biagan, Gonzalez bag top plums in 2nd Talisay Triathlon Race

Comebacking triathlete Abet Biagan and Chanyl Gonzalez bested a field of 150 to dominate the 2nd Talisay Triathlon Race held yesterday at the Talisay City Fish Port in Talisay City.

Biagan grabbed the Men’s Open title when he conquered the 750-meter swim, 20 kilometer bike and 5 kilometer run in one hour, seven minutes and five seconds (1:07:05) while Gonzalez clocked 1:26:02 to bring home the Female Open title of this race held  in line with celebration of the American Landing in the city.

Coming in seconds later to Biagan was Ian Gerard Russiana, who took second place with a time of 1:07:22. Salvaging third place was defending champion Kristiane Lim, who crossed the finish line at 1:08:53.

Trailing Gonzalez in the distaff side were Louie Villacin at second place after clocking 1:29:03 and Loveleinell Casidsid at third place with her time of 1:31:12.

Justin Chiongbian stretched his winning streak this year after clinching the 19-Under title with his time of 1:11:53.

Jezerel Tan took the second place after clocking 1:22:29 while settling for third place was Jose Bacasmas, who clocked 1:26:10.

John Philip Duenas continued his success in the sport of triathlon by bringing home the 20-29 title with a time of 1:12:09. The distaff side was ruled by Catherine Manreal, who finished her race in 1:37:28.

Taking second place was Cris Calinawan (1:12:19) while Jezam Baldimar salvaged third place with a time of 1:17:43.

Team Parklane reigned supreme in the 30-29 category with Ralph Arche taking the title and Alan Ting placing second. Third place went to FISH18’s Chris Aldeguer.

Ruling the distaff side was Emeraldee Hermosilla, who was also named as the sexiest triathlete. Finishing as her runners-up were Mari Antonietta Sy and Xedessa Cuyos.

Juergen Doerr took home the 40-49 title while Alelou Cane ruled in the distaff side. Trailing Doerr were Jay Pizairas and John Salgado.

Top 3 in the 50-Above were Joy Danao, Caesar Telen and Philip Caesarius Rubi. The relay title went to the trio of Kieth Ocampo, Pinpin Uy and Mary Joy Tabal.

KIDS CATEGORY

Ralph So bagged the 13-15 title while Yuan Chiongbian finished second. Taking third place was Alia Uy.

Alia Mataragnon bagged the 11-12 title while completing the top 3 were Joshua Uy and Richmond Seville.

Nyka Archival clinched the 10-Under title while her brother Nyko settled for third place. Second place went to Ella Stevens.

Other special awardees were Dante Doerr and Althea Ricci Mataragnon as the youngest participants.  /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
