Charcoal vendor killed

A FEMALE charcoal vendor was shot dead by five unidentified men in barangay San Nicolas, Cebu City, last Friday night.

Alma Eugene, 40, widow, suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the body. Neighbors rushed the woman to the Cebu City Medical Center but attending physicians declared her dead.

Police said the attack could be a case of mistaken identity since the woman had no known enemy in the barangay.

Police said the assailants positioned themselves in a dark area when they shot the woman, who sat on a bench outside her house.

The house was within the Taboan public market.  The assailants fled on separate motorcycles./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
