BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — After forgiving Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim three times, former President Joseph Estrada admitted on Sunday that he was still considering if he could still patch things up with his rival.

In an interview with reporters, he said that he never thought he would ever be in the receiving end of Lim’s tirades.

When asked about their heated exchange on national television, Estrada claimed he was “a forgiving man. I have forgiven him (Lim) three times before.”

But whether he was willing to forgive the Manila official a fourth time, Estrada said he was still thinking about it.

He however said that he still respects the mayor but pointed out that Lim will have to answer questions on why Manila has been overtaken by many other cities under his watch.

When asked for his take on the debate that has turned personal between the two politicians, San Juan Representative Joseph Victor Ejercito Estrada said that it was harder for him to come to terms with what Lim has said.

“Sobrang bastos niya at kapag tatay mo ang binabastos, iba ang pakiramdam (He’s so rude and if your father is being maligned, you feel different),” he said.

Estrada and Lim are both in the Manila mayoral race.

UNA campaign manager and Navotas Representative Tobias “Toby” Tiangco said that Lim’s abandoning of Estrada and releasing of the former President’s mug shot back during Edsa 2 has earned him the people’s anger and did more good to Estrada.

Estrada said that Edsa 2 was a “shame” which was why “it is not being celebrated.”

“What happened to our country after Edsa 2? Pinagsisisihan ang Edsa 2 (People are sorry that Edsa 2 took place),” he said.
