BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Tired of the criticisms on candidates of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) coalition for dancing during sorties, former senator Ernesto Maceda challenged President Benigno Aquino III to lighten up and try dancing to “Gangnam Style.”

“I am challenging President Aquino to dance Gangnam. I can do it, I don’t know about him,” he told reporters after an interview with local radio station Z Radio.

“The President is only what–around 50? He’s also single so he must be more adept at dancing,” he said.

Zambales Representative Milagros Magsaysay said it was unfortunate that the Liberal Party-led coalition was hitting them with small issues such as their dancing on stage during sorties.

“I don’t understand why they are nitpicking on little things like our dancing. We just want a breather–we’re not always stiff and serious,” she said.

“We also know how to have fun. Maybe they should dance as well,” suggested the Zambales lawmaker.

“I hope they won’t make those things issues,” she said, adding that UNA was not one to complain about Team PNoy bets bringing actors to their rallies.

Team PNoy has earlier hit at UNA candidates who danced Gangnam Style and Harlem Shake in their sorties.

Maceda said that such mudslinging reflected poorly on the LP-led coalition.
