Fernan bridge repairs scheduled tomorrow evening

REPAIRS on the Marcelo Fernan bridge will commence at 10 p.m tomorrow to avoid aggravating vehicular flow in the area, the City Traffic Management System (CTMS) of Lapu-Lapu City said.

CTMS chief Frank Brazil said signages and barriers will be set up to allow repairs to proceed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

He said the ferry terminal in Muelle Osmeña wharf in Barangay Poblacion will be ready to accommodate more passengers.

“We are reminding all the motorists especially the motorcycles to drive carefully when reaching the scraped road to avoid accident,” Brazil said.

Three traffic aides will be designated at the foot of the Fernan bridge to man the traffic.

Brazil said the contractor PLD Construction will be reminded to strictly enforce the no entry sign to all vehicles at 10:00 pm.

He said the repair and asphalting of the bridge “could be finished by first week of April if there are no interruptions.”

Lapu-Lapu City will host its Kadaugan Street Party on April 26 and the Kadaugan sa Mactan re-enactment the following day.
