Malacañang said it wasn’t hard to support President Benigno Aquino III’s program of government.
Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte made the remark after lawyer Aquilino Pimentel III, who’s expected to be proclaimed a senator in the coming days, expressed his intention to support Mr. Aquino’s agenda in the Senate.
“We will defer comment because he has yet to be proclaimed,” said Valte over government-run radio dzRB.
“But allow me to say a little something about that. It is easy to support President Aquino’s programs if you want to be for reforms and if you are sincere about pushing forward these reforms,” she said.
Still, Valte indicated that Malacañang wasn’t expecting too much from Pimentel.
“From what I read about attorney Koko Pimentel’s comments, he said he would not be a lapdog. His support would supposedly be issues-based. From that statement, he is not declaring wholesale support or something like that,” Valte said. Norman Bordadora
