2 UNA bets join Pampanga sortie

PAMPANGA, Philippines — The United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) started its sortie here on Saturday even with only two of its senatorial candidates in tow.

The campaign rally started a little before 11 a.m. with former senator Ernesto Maceda and Nancy Binay present at the Miss Earth Park, in Candaba.

Vice President Jejomar Binay and former senator Juan Miguel Zubiri and were expected to drop by later, an UNA staff said.

Meanwhile, San Juan Representative Joseph Victor Ejercito Estrada will not be attending the Pampanga sortie but will go on a separate visit to Nueva Ecija on the same day with Juan Miguel Zubiri.

Estrada said his father, former President Joseph Estrada, will endorse their candidates along with Binay in Baguio City.

The vice president will not pass up a chance to drop by Candaba, according to UNA’s campaign staff.

The younger Binay said her father had close ties to Candaba Mayor Jerry Pelayo who was also a known ally of former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

“Dito lang nanalo ang aking ama sa buong Pampanga,” she told reporters, referring to the 2010 elections.
