Don Bosco football teams on a mission

THE DON BOSCO Technology Center will be vying for five titles in the 15th Aboitiz Football Cup, which will have its championship games today at the Aboitiz Sports Field in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Don Bosco hopes to defend four of its titles—Players 8, Players 10, Boys 12 and Boys 14, and hopes to clinch a new title via the Boys 17 category.

In the Players 8, Don Bosco-3 will go up against Bright Academy after outsmarting Lahug B in the semifinal round. The team advanced to the knockout stages by topping bracket C when it won all four of its elimination matches.

Hoping to retain its Players 10 title is Don Bosco-1, which will be facing Canduman. Don Bosco-1 got a chance to defend its title at the expense of Giuseppe in the semifinals. It entered the knockout stages by keeping a clean sheet in the group stages with a total of 15 points.

Another Don Bosco-1 team will be clashing with Giuseppe for the Boys 12 title. The team grabbed a finals ticked anchored on a 5-0 semifinal win against Bright Academy. In the group stages, Don Bosco-1 reigned supreme in bracket D by also winning all four of its elimination matches.

Don Bosco-2 will be gunning for another title in the Boys 14 against Springdale A after an impressive 2-0 blanking of the Abellana National School (ANS)-Pomeroy in the semifinals. Don Bosco-2 topped bracket B despite losing one of its four group matches.

Don Bosco is also hoping to clinch the Boys 17 title against Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC). /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
