Drilon: No crowd contest with UNA
DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines – The administration’s Team PNoy senatorial ticket won’t engage the United Nationalist Alliance in a contest on which of them draws a bigger crowd when they hold separate rallies in Baguio City on Sunday.
“Hindi kami makikipag-sabong,” Team PNoy campaign manager Senator Franklin Drilon told reporters Friday before the start of a campaign rally in this city.
President Benigno Aquino III joined some of his handpicked candidates during the first rally of a two-day swing through Pangasinan, which has more than 1.6 million registered voters.
Aquino was also expected to attend the Team PNoy rally in Baguio City.
Asked whether there was a contest as to which could mobilize the bigger crowd, Drilon said, “That’s not one of the standards.”
While Team PNoy candidates dominate the election surveys, the group has yet to draw thousands of people the way UNA did in places like Cebu and Cagayan De Oro.
