Toledo bets told: Sign peace pact

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Toledo City will be calling on candidates in the city to sign a peace pact.

Comelec officer Michael Angelo Sarno told reporters yesterday that he will be calling on mayoralty candidates Sonny Osmeña and Aurelio Espinosa including their running mates, Dr. Antonio Yapha and Vice Mayor Daydee Zambo and to sign the peace covenant.

Sarno who was at the Comelec Provincial Office yesterday said that this pact will ensure a peaceful election in the city.

“Walang personalan,” he said.

Osmeña is an independent candidate while Yapha is supported by the Liberal Party.

No politicians from Toledo City showed up during the peace covenant signing held last Sunday at the Arhcbishop’s Palace that kicked off with a unity walk for Secure and Fair Elections (SAFE) 2013.

In Cebu province, all towns and city in the 4th district were recommended under the election watchlist, while 81 towns and cities in the Central Visayas are in the list.
