CEBU CITY, Philippines—A traffic enforcer found a bloodied businessman inside his BMW car in Barangay (village) Carreta in Cebu City late Thursday afternoon.

Renato Generoso, area supervisor of Cebu City Integrated Traffic Operations Management (Citom), was inspecting the traffic signs in Carreta on board his motorcycle past 5 p.m. when a BMW drove up alongside him.

Then he saw the driver of the vehicle with a wound on the right cheek, asking for help.

He told the driver to pull over and called up the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation for help. Before the paramedics arrived, a woman appeared and identified herself as Viola Lim, wife of the victim, Edgar, 49.

Generosa said Viola took Edgar to a private hospital where he was operated on for a gunshot wound in the stomach. A bullet also grazed his right cheek.

Generoso said the victim claimed he was driving at the North Reclamation Area in Cebu City when an unidentified assailant on board a motorcycle fired at him from behind.

Although wounded, the victim continued driving until he was able to ask for help.

Scene of the Crime Operatives found two bullet holes at the rear portion of the car. Bullets had also shattered the rear windshield and rear right window, said Leonides Casul of SOCO.

SPO4 Rey Cuyos, police investigator, said Viola didn’t know of anyone who would want to kill her husband, whose was into “networking.”
