3 killed as motorcycle collides with van in Isabela
NAGUILIAN, Isabela, Philippines—Three students from Cauayan City died when their motorcycle collided with a van on the national highway in Barangay (village) Magsaysay here on Thursday morning, police said.
Chief Inspector Ronnie Naira, Naguilian police chief, said the motorcycle driver, George Catulos, tried to overtake a vehicle but hit the van as he swerved to the opposite lane at 5 a.m.
Catulos died while being taken to the Dr. Ester Garcia General Hospital in Cauayan City. His companions, Johnny Medina and Bartolome Flores, both 19, died instantly.
As is the practice in such cases, police arrested the van driver, Edison Solis, 30, a resident of Santiago City.
