Two cousins charged for cop’s death

POLICE filed charges against two cousins accused of killing a policeman last month in barangay Talamban, Cebu City.

Three witnesses identified Miguel Nahuman Bihag and Miguel Tortoga Bihag as the ones who shot PO3 Wilfred Songcal Datu last Feb. 14, PO3 Dario Manatad, homicide investigator of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said.

Police filed murder charges against the two Tuesday afternoon before the Cebu City Prosecutors’ Office.

Although the two remain at large and police are still investigating the motive of the killing, the case is already considered solved because of the filing of charges, Senior Supt. Mariano Natu-el Jr., chief of CCPO, said.

Manatad said the witnesses identified the suspects through their photos secured by the police.

Datu was assigned at the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) when he was killed in sitio Tigbao./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
