MANILA, Philippines — Temperatures may soar up to 35 degrees Celsius in parts of the country over the weekend, the state weather bureau said Wednesday.
In the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s extended weather outlook, temperature in Metro Manila may reach up to 35 degrees Celsius on Sunday, March 17.
Tuguegarao City in Cagayan may also reach up to 35 degrees Celsius on Saturday, March 16.
Metro Manila sizzled at 34.4 degrees Celsius on Tuesday afternoon with the hottest spot recorded at Pagasa Science Garden in Quezon City at 4:10p.m.
But the weather bureau has yet to officially declare the summer season, as the northeast monsoon has to go away completely.
Easterlies, or warm winds from the east, have started to affect the eastern portion of the country as it shifts to summer season.
“The whole country will be partly cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms,” Pagasa also said.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the east will prevail over the northern and eastern sections of Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas, Pagasa added.
