Aces cagers bag 2nd title
THE Athletes for Christ in Excellent Service (ACES) captured their second title in a row after they defeated the Christian Forever Glorified Assembly, 110-93, in the finals of the 34-under division in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Basketball League 2013 last Sunday at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.
It was a balanced scoring attack for the Aces, a ministry from the Living Word Christian Church, as they were led by the 16 points of current University of San Carlos wingman , Stephen Que and the 15 of former University of Southern Philippines Foundation gunner Nuevo Demo Filoteo.
JM Buenconsejo and former Far Eastern University guard TJ Caparros also stepped up for the Aces with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Later, Filoteo swept most of the awards as he was named the league’s Most Valuable Player. He was joined in the Mythical Five by Caparros, Wesley Yasi, John Lucena and current University of the Visayas juniors assistant coach Abel Bungcaras.
Third place honors went the way of BCCP Joshua after it defeated BUCCI Zealots, 69-56.
