The stage is set for the selection of this year’s recipients of New Zealand-ASEAN Scholars (NZAS) awards.
NZAS is a post-graduate scholarship program funded by the New Zealand government, through the New Zealand Aid Programme under the NZAS awards. It is open to Filipino scholars who wish to pursue post-graduate study New Zealand.
New Zealand Ambassador to the Philippines Reuben Levermore said NZAS is an opportunity for his country to share their expertise with the Philippines.
“Through our scholarships program, we seek to match the development needs of the Philippines with our areas of expertise. New Zealand is globally recognized in areas such as agriculture, tourism, governance and renewable energy. We hope Filipino scholars will enhance their knowledge and skills that they can apply in the Philippines,” Levermore said.
Other fields of study include public sector management, trade, development, disaster risk management and climate change adaptation.
The scholarship program is open to candidates from the public, private and civil society sectors.
At least 18 scholarship slots are available to Filipinos who wish to study in New Zealand for the 2014 academic year. The deadline for scholarship application is July 15.
