MANILA, Philippines– A mayor was kidnapped by an alleged rebel group in Surigao del Sur, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman said.
Mayor Henry Danao of Lingig, Surigao del Sur was abducted in his residence at around 6:30 a.m., Saturday said Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr.
Danao was abducted by men in camouflage uniforms and on board
three vans, said Cruz.
The suspects proceeded towards Davao Oriental, he said.
