NAGA CITY—The whereabouts of a Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) officer assigned to a small town northeast of this city are still unknown since she was reported missing last week.
Police are clueless over the disappearance of Iris O. Napere, DILG officer of Bombon, Camarines Sur, after she failed to attend Friday’s meeting with other DILG officers. Her main function is to supervise and advise local government officials, including those in the police and fire departments.
On Sunday, the department’s regional director, Blandino Maceda, sought the help of the Naga police in looking for the missing government executive. This prompted the police chief to create Task Force Napere to coordinate the search.
Napere’s husband, Gerald, told police investigators that his wife failed to meet up at a rendezvous place as they had agreed to go together to their hometown in Guinobatan, Albay. The couple had been staying in their aunt’s house in Villa Carangahan in Barangay San Felipe in Naga since she was assigned to Camarines Sur three years ago.
One of the investigators, PO2 Jeffrey Ros, said Napere was last seen on Friday morning by a tricycle driver who saw her waiting for a ride to Bombon.
That afternoon, Ros said Sheila Medina, DILG officer of Cabusao town, told police that Napere could not be contacted in her two cell phone numbers. Juan Escandor Jr., Inquirer Southern Luzon
