LTFRB task force to go after colorum vehicles
A TASK force will be organized by the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board in Central Visayas (LTFRB-7) to crack down on colorum vehicles in the province.
“Considering that the government is also issuing franchises for tourist vehicles, we will see to it that they are plying their own routes and if they secured a special permit,” LTFRB Regional Director Ahmed Cuizon said.
Cuizon said he was surprised with the brazen attitude of some operators who defy the conditions of their franchise. Colorum vehicles, he said, aren’t covered by accident insurance policies.
“A special permit only costs P130 and they don’t secure one. if they are apprehended, they would complain about the P6,000 fine. We will protect the country’s image as a safe tourist destination especially in Cebu,” he said. /Correspondent Renan Alangilan
