Seno wins Olivarez net Boys 14-U title
CEBUANO NETTER Jan Godfrey Seno continued his winning streak, this time by clinching the Boys 14 Under title of the 3rd Olivarez Age Group tournament in Paranaque, Manila.
The Bogo City government-supported Seno had no trouble dismissing Xenon Gonzales, 6-1, 6-1, to add the 14-U title to his growing list of achievements this year.
With the win in this Group 1 Philippine Tennis Association-sanctioned tournament, Seno will get 200 points added to his rankings in the Boys 14-Under category, wherein he is currently ranked fourth.
Seno advanced to the championship round with a 6-2, 6-0 thrashing of Michael Eala in the semifinals. In the quarterfinals, he routed Gabriel Tiamson, 6-0, 6-1.
The University of San Carlos netter showed his maturity growth in the sport by juggling this national tournament with an international competition—the Ajay Pathak Memorial Cup ITF 14-Under Developmental Championship Division 1.
Just last Saturday, Seno teamed up with Albert Lim Jr. to defeat a Korean duo for the doubles title. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
