Type ‘O’ a brand name loaned from friend

/ 07:46 AM March 10, 2013

THE TYPE “O” slogan which Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswaga uses on its T-shirts and tarpaulin designs is now a registered commercial trademark which Rep. Tomas Osmeña “borrowed” from a businessman-friend.

Osmeña said that banning the use of a duly registered commercial trademark is a violation of the intellectual property law.

“I’m just borrowing it (type “O”).  It’s supposed to be a brand of T-shirts and I said I’ll borrow it to help promote it,” he said.

He said that the display of the type “O” slogan is a marketing strategy meant to help his businessman-friend who owns the trademark. /Doris C. Bongcac
