Living Word tops 35-above division

THE LIVING Word-International Bible Institute reigned supreme in the 35-above division of the 3rd Fellowship of Christian Athletes Basketball League Inter-Church Basketball Tournament as it beat the Christian Workers Basketball Association, 86-76, in the championship game last weekend at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.

For the second year in a row, LW-IBI was simply unstoppable as it banked on the veteran leadership of PBA great Al Solis.

Jonathan Sacabon scattered 14 points while Christian Bacus, who was later adjudged as the league MVP, added 13. Pastor Mel Caparros chipped in 12, Edwin Catamco had 11 while Guillaume Gauvain added 10.

Edward Buhay carried the fight for CWBA with 15 points but got little else from the rest of his teammates.

The third place trophy was won by LW-Couples after it beat Cebu Bethel Temple Warriors, 70-47.

The championship game in the 34-below division between the Athletes for Christ in Excellent Service and the Christian Forever Glorified Assembly will be played today at the same venue.
