Camotes M’bike Challenge kicks off today

AROUND 110 mountain bikers will invade Camotes Island for today’s 8th Camotes Mountain Bike Challenge.

According to organizer Joel Baring, among the riders who will compete in the six-category race will be veteran riders such as sports patron Oscar “Boying” Rodriguez, Danao City vice mayor Ramon “Nito”Durano III, San Francisco vice mayor Al Arquillano and elite riders in Randy Carbonera, Gino Basirgo and Titing Sampan.

The race is held in line with the fiesta celebration of Camotes Island and is organized by the local government unit and the Camotes Offroad Bikers Association headed by its president, Leeford Galindo.

The race’s theme is “Let’s Pedal The Change, Mitigate Climate Change.”

The race, according to Baring, will be having a total distance of 38 kilometers. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
