AN amateur basketball referee was fatally shot by two motorcycle-riding assailants in barangay Mambaling, Cebu City.
Rolando Pasumala alias “Tambok”, 54, died on the spot due to gunshot wounds in the different parts of the body.
Police said Pasumala was sitting on a chair while watching Florencio Magtagan, 44, repairing his water dispenser at the side of the road in sitio Puntod Alaska past midnight yesterday.
A motorcycle with two men on board arrived and stopped near Pasumala.
The motorcycle riders clad in black and white jackets were wearing helmets.
The backrider whipped out a gun and shot the victim repeatedly.
Magtagan told police that Pasumal knelt on the ground after the first bursts of gunfire before the assailants finished him off with more bullets.
The assailants drove off toward the interior of the place.
Police are still investigating the motive of the attack.
PO3 Lou Pagara of the homicide section of the Cebu City Police Office said that according to the victim’s live-in-partner Pasumala had no known enemies.
Five empty shells and two deformed slugs for a .40 caliber pistol were recovered from the crime scene.
