The suspect in the killing of a 20-year-old hotel employee, reported as a call-center agent earlier, has been identified and is now the subject of a manhunt.
Police Officer 2 Rodel Binetez, of the Manila Police District homicide section, named the suspect as Melvin Balajadia, 24, an alleged member of the Sigue-Sigue Sputnik Gang and a resident of Sta. Cruz, Manila.
Balajadia was positively identified by witnesses as the one who shot and killed Khristine Dawn Concepcion, an employee of Intercontinental Hotel, through a photograph in the police rogue gallery.
Binetez said the suspect’s identity and home address were traced to his Facebook account.
He added that the suspect had pending cases of pilferage in 2009 and another case of robbery holdup in 2011 in Manila city courts.
Police said Balajadia’s father told them that his son had failed to come home since Wednesday after the robbery.
Concepcion was shot dead when she refused to give up her cell phone and bag.
