Pangasinan NPC backs Aquino bets for Senate

09:12 PM March 07, 2013

A leader of the Nationalist People’s Coalition said the NPC, a party founded by President Benigno Aquino III’s uncle, businessman Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco, will support Aquino’s senatorial candidates in Pangasinan.

In a statement, Rep. Enrique Cojuangco (Tarlac, first district) said he had talked with the President and committed to Mr. Aquino the continued support of the NPC in Pangasinan for the President’s senatorial candidates under Team PNoy.

The statement quoted Cojuangco as saying that the NPC, which has been rumored to be having a rift with the administration of  Aquino, will continue to support the President’s legislative agenda, programs and projects.

Since Pangasinan is a free zone, Cojuangco said the NPC in the province will support LP senatorial candidates, too.

As a free zone, it will be advantageous for LP senatorial candidates to campaign in Pangasinan without interfering with local political fights, said Cojuangco.

The NPC has 43 candidates for mayor, of which 28 are running for reelection. The NPC has unopposed candidates for mayor in Umingan, Villasis, Urdaneta City, Laoac, Pozorrubio, Sison, Bayambang and Santo Tomas towns.
