1st social media influencers summit set

MORE than 300 bloggers, digital entrepreneurs, online personalities, and members of the academe, youth sector, business sector, non-government organizations and government institutions will convene for the first Social Media Influencers Summit 2013 on March 16 at the J Centre Mall in Mandaue City.

Carrying the theme, “Trending + Forward”, the summit will highlight how social media provides a venue for companies and individuals to promote their products and how social media influencers reach out to and influence these products’ target audiences.

“The ultimate goal of any ‘social media influencer’ is to create a buzz for its cause to be a trending topic in the social media networks. But buzz is not created by all. It is practiced responsibly by those who had mastered it. And this craft is fast changing with the dynamic preference and attitudes of the social media users,” explained Ruben Licera Jr., president of Cebu Bloggers Society Inc. (CBSI).

Maria Ressa will be the event’s keynote speaker. Ressa is a Filipino journalist, chief executive officer of Rappler, and author of Seeds of Terror.

The summit is organized by iNewMedia Online Network, a non-profit organization of professional bloggers, social media practitioners, and digital marketing professionals primarily engaged in social media and digital-related activities in Cebu, including organizing social media events, in cooperation with CBSI.

Proceeds of the Social Media Influencers Summit will benefit Dr. Narciso Tapia Kidney Transplant Fund, World Vision and CBSI.
