Cortes: Not a centavo from CICC
MAYOR Jonas Cortes said yesterday Mandaue City has not earned a single centavo from the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) that sits on prime commercial land in the Mandaue Reclamation Area.
The Capitol and the Mandaue city government has entered into a joint venture to operate the CICC which was built in 2007.
Cortes said “There has to be equal footing” between the province and city.
Even if the Capitol spent for building the convention center, Mandaue City should also enjoy benefits as it sits on prime real estate it owns.
This month, Cortes said, he will ask the CICC board to review the joint venture and the management contract of the Philippine Exhibits and Themparks Corporation (Petco).
